Intro to Yoga Workshop: An introduction for students who are new to Yoga practice. The ritual and conduct for yoga classes will be explained. Philosophy and energetics will be introduced. We will learn to attune movement to the flow of breath and to access your relaxation response. See schedule page for dates.
Yoga Basics Class Series:A 6 class series to teach the basic alignment points for asana (postures) including standing, sitting, forward & backward bending, twisting. Enjoy feeling your way into proper alignment and learning to build your poses from a steady, balanced foundation filled with comfortable breath. See schedule page for dates.

Yoga Class Descriptions
Ongoing 90 minute practices exploring the 8 limbs of yoga with physical therapist and yoga therapist Cheryl Van Demark, E-RYT 500.
Mixed Level Yoga: For individuals with a moderate fitness level. Instruction in asana practice will be presented in a format that allows the student options for practice along a continuum of challenge.
Body-wise Senior Yoga: Enjoy a gentle but effective practice adapted for chronic health challenges, motion limitations and joint replacement surgery and back pain. This is a chair assisted class – not a seated yoga class. Classes are kept small to provide a high level of personal attention. Transitions to the floor are optional. Props are frequently incorporated to assist the practice.
Yin Yang Yoga : A 2 part practice. Begin with Yin to achieve deep range of motion gains from the deep connective tissues of the body, with an emphasis on the hips and pelvis.. The Yin yoga style invites us to employ loving introspection while in long held postures on the floor with the support of props. The second part of practice will use the new found range in simple grounding asanas/postures.
Yoga for Stress Relief – Relax and Release: This class features a medley of relaxing yoga practices with an emphasis on our subtle body energy. Feel how taking different physical shapes spontaneously expands the breath into the body’s primary energy centers ( Chakras). Learn selected tools to expand your breath capacity (Pranayama) and experience different directional flows of prana ( Pranavayus). Enhance your perception of these subtle energy flows by practicing hand gestures (Mudras). Discover how to release deep myofascial tension that can constrict flow of circulation and energy assisted by straps, balls and rollers. If your practice has been limited to asana, you may be surprised at the power of these tools to deepen your practice.
End your work week with a sweet vinyasa style practice. Note: Not recommended for students new to yoga practice.
2014 Guest Teacher Workshops:
Monthly Challenge Practices: This is a strong class that introduces deeper poses to challenge your practice to build your confidence in inversions, arm balances, and backbends. This class is for students who have been practicing regularly for at least six months, and are ready to work hard and aspire to new challenges.

CORE Body Sculpt

This class features full body toning primarily using stability/GYM balls, resistance bands, Pilates wheels, foam rollers and light weights. End with yummy strap assisted stretches.
Core strengthening provides great cross training for dance yoga and all athletic endeavors! It is also one of the best ways to support your spinal health.

Every R.I.P.P.E.D. Class is a fun and exciting fitness experience that will leave you wanting more! R.I.P.P.E.D.— Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics and Endurance as the workout portion, along with Diet suggestions to help you attain and maintain your physique in ways that are fun, safe, doable and extremely effective.
It is Plateau Proof, because each component of the workout provides a uniquely different emphasis or system response, so your body never gets accustomed to the constantly changing format. Achieve undeniable, ultimate results in minimal time, boasting 750-1000 calories burned in just 50 minutes.
This total body, high intensity style program, utilizing free weights, resistance and body weight. Martial Arts: Bujinkan Jinsei Dojo
Instructor Jason Jacobs offers a traditional Japanese martial art geared toward self protection. Learn all aspects of combat related movements from how to fall safely to how to defend against multiple armed attackers. Use striking/ kicking methods, grappling, throws, joint locks, all traditional and modern weapons. Experience how to to read and understand why the body works the way it does and learn to use this as an advantage, not only in a confrontation, but in everyday life. Train to move naturally, the way the body is designed.
